Tom,

just wanted to congratulate here in the new forum as well. I'm sure many Java developers, also existing GWT users, will enjoy this strong qooxdoo+GWT combination in form of QxWT.

Cheers,

Andreas

As said in the Release Annoucement I've used GWT 2.0 but in theory it should work with GWT > 1.5

I'm not familiar with qooxdoo, but it seems quite complete, and I like the HTML editor widget since it seems more powerful than many of those in sgwt and gxt.

However, do you know if anybody is working with CKEditor and qooxdoo (and whether I could make that work with qxwt)? We've done some evals on it, and it has many areas of integration that will be useful to us (we think!) for user-generated CSS, image libraries, table layouts, etc. Our users will use our product to build documents of varying complexity (from simple legal docs to more complicated federal forms and such), so it's imperative that the GUI platform allow us to do so.

I hope to do a more in depth evaluation of qxwt in January. It looks most interesting, and LGPL makes it even easier since our product will be both AGPL and have a commercial license for those who need it.

Thanks for giving me this tip on the GWT forums.

Probably you should ask at the qooxdoo-Forums. QxWT can wrap will wrap whatever qooxdoo is going to provide to us

Looks like an interesting thing.

No problem. We (QxWT not qooxdoo) are quite a young project so if you are hitting any problems while adopting our stuff please don't hesitate to show up in this forum. I'm working on an example introduction on how to get started with QxWT and work on release 1.0.0.1 which will hold bugfixes to some bugs we found since 1.0.0.0.

What's the best way to learn about QxWT? Should I evaluate qooxdoo as a JS library first?

Well there are some resources available. I don't think it makes a lot of sense for you to learn qooxdoo (though taking a look at the stuff they are providing might be interesting to you as well) itself but directly start out with QxWT.

I don't know how you evaluate stuff but I most of the time start out with a small example and copy over code from various other resources (you can even copy qooxdoo-JS-Code because most of the time it translates literally to QxWT)

There are some resources available already:

If you wait for 1-2 days I'll release 1.0.0.1 today or tomorrow and will publish an up-to-date tutorial on getting started.
